Sustainability-enhancing feed additive for finishing heifers

Elanco Animal Health is making significant progress on its four-pillar livestock sustainability strategy, delivering new innovations to farmers, as well as advocating and changing the narrative on cattle from a climate culprit to part of the sustainability solution.

As part of this effort, Elanco has been working to expand access to innovations that can reduce livestock’s environmental footprint. Most recently, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved three combination clearances of Experior® and MGA® in finishing heifers. Experior is the first FDA-approved product with a gas emissions claim to help reduce ammonia gas emissions per pound of live weight and hot carcass weight for beef steers and heifers fed in confinement.

The FDA has approved combination feeding of:

  • Experior and MGA;
  • Experior, Rumensin® and MGA; and
  • Experior, Rumensin, Tylan® Premix and MGA.

New herbicide controls broadleaves, preserves white clover

Corteva Agriscience announced that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has registered NovaGraz™ herbicide. As the only pasture herbicide to give cattle producers broad-spectrum weed control while preserving white clover and annual lespedeza, NovaGraz meets a long-standing need.

Eliminating weeds in white-clover pastures can increase the amount of forage produced and improve utilization. In research trials where NovaGraz herbicide controlled broadleaf weeds and preserved white clover, pastures produced 21% more total forage, compared with untreated sites.

Multiple years of testing show NovaGraz herbicide, powered by Rinskor™ active, provides broad-spectrum control of important broadleaf species, including ironweed, cocklebur, wild carrot, buttercup, biennial thistles, ragweeds, plantain, woolly croton, poison hemlock and many others.

NovaGraz

In addition, NovaGraz herbicide carries no grazing restrictions for beef cattle and only minimal haying and manure restrictions after application.

Tractor series offers dependability and better cost of ownership

AGCO Corp. has released the Massey Ferguson® 9S Series tractor. Designed with the farmer in mind, the MF 9S Series offers better dependability and efficiency to help farmers achieve a lower overall cost of ownership.

The MF 9S Series sets the standard with efficiency, dependability and field-proven technology. While in the field, farmers have experienced up to a 15% reduction in fuel consumption along with other fluid efficiencies, to help reduce costs and maximize profits.

Designed with field-proven technology, including the industry-leading 8.4-liter AGCO Power™ engine, Dyna-VT™ transmission and Protect-U™ cab design, as seen on previous Massey Ferguson S Series models, the MF 9S Series delivers maximum power and efficiency for demanding implements. The 90-GPM ECO pump allows farmers to deliver the power needed to operate the technology features on the implements they need without taking that power away from the operation of the tractor itself.
