From the cowboy spirit to that Southern hospitality, this year’s National Angus Tour gave Business Breed producers from across the country a taste of Texas. A combination of education and fellowship, the event brought 145 members of the American Angus Association to Cox Ranch, Vytelle and Teskey’s Western Store Nov. 1, 2024.
Bobby Cox first fell in love with the equine industry, but now is known for his entrepreneurial spirit. His Weatherford operation was the perfect meeting place for this national tour.
The Cox Ranch team opened their doors to Angus breeders, showcasing more than 2,200 acres of pasture for both horses and cattle. Their property was a stop where attendees got to look at livestock up close, enjoy lunch and listen to a panel on direct-to-consumer beef sales.
He describes this year’s event as being particularly well-run, noting how much he enjoyed each stop. From good cattle and good company to authentic Western shopping, of the nearly 10 national tours he’s attended, Callantine says this one easily rose to the top.
Step by step, the Vytelle team broke down the process of in vitro fertilization (IVF) for producers. Candid questions and hands-on learning were the focus of this tour stop.
“It was an opportunity for us to connect with current and potential customers in a setting where we could provide insight into the technical side of our IVF process,” says Kendall Whatley, strategic account manager. “I, along with each of the Vytelle team members that participated in the tour, agree that it was a highlight of the convention for us and that we were greatly appreciative to have participated.”
From the familiar smell of leather to the gentle creak of old, wooden floors, Teskey’s Western Store made breeders feel right at home. Tools, equipment, clothing and more — the store was a cowboy’s dream.
