Inspirational. The first word that comes to my mind when I reflect on the National Junior Angus Association. The NJAA consists of inspirational juniors who are impacting others around them and the next generation on agriculture. Each day, I am inspired to serve such a successful, unique and hardworking junior membership because of this. Angus cattle may be what brings us all together, but your strength and determination is what makes the NJAA the association it is today.  

Each of you are an inspiration to others. Whether it is with your involvement in the NJAA, school or other organizations in your community, each of you provides a unique perspective to those around you. No matter your age or experience, you are a role model to someone around you. When I think of the young entrepreneurs, leaders and achievers within our association, I know they serve as role models to me. I challenge each of you to harness your full potential to inspire those around you through your acts of service and leadership. 

You are also an inspiration to the future. In a rapidly changing world, it excites me to know there are young people, like you, who are next in line within our industry. We are the next wave of leaders. We have been raised to value the traditions of agriculture, yet we embody the spirit of innovation and change. Leading alongside each of you excites me for the future of our industry.  

Finally, surround yourself with people who uplift and inspire you. By getting involved with the NJAA, you’ve already made the first step. I encourage each of you to step outside of your comfort zone and attend LEAD or Raising the Bar. Here, you will find friends, mentors and networks sharing your same passions and pushing you to your fullest potential. These connections will provide encouragement and new ideas. Surrounding those who inspire you will broaden your horizons, creating an avenue for success.  

With inspiration always comes change. However, remember that change takes time. The world doesn’t transform overnight, and that’s okay. Stay committed to your goals, be patient with yourself, and keep pushing forward. With hard work, every effort you make is a step toward the future you envision. I am proud to know the potential of our association and the inspiration we bring to our generation.
