Good things come in small packages — small gifts have a big impact.

As a young child, I can remember the excitement of Christmas morning. Rushing to the Christmas tree, I was in search of gifts from Santa. I would sort through the boxes, looking for the packages labeled with my name — Hurriedly picking them up to shake them, to feel the weight to decide which one to open first.

In the eyes of a 5-year-old, the bigger and heavier the present, the more fun and exciting it could be to play with it.

As I grew older, the greatest gifts weren’t necessarily in the biggest packages. The small packages turn out to be just as precious or more valuable to me in the long run.

You know the saying, “good things come in small packages?” That holds true at the Angus Foundation. Small charitable gifts (under $500) make up 80% of unrestricted dollars received each year. This is more than three-fourths of all our donations.

Sure, we may recognize the large gifts, but every gift counts — no matter what size. All the great achievements the Angus Foundation is able to accomplish occur only through the lasting and sustaining gifts given by all our members.

Christmas is truly a magical time of year, a time to reflect on the past year’s gifts and blessings.

With this being my daughter’s first Christmas, the magic is only exemplified.

Not only do I want to wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas, but I also want to thank you for your continued support of the Angus Foundation, no matter the size of gift.
