Greetings! My name is Alli Perry, and I am from the great state of Tennessee.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned throughout life, it’s that change is inevitable. We live in a world that is constantly evolving and nothing has prepared me better for that than my time in the National Junior Angus Association (NJAA). As a current member of the National Junior Angus Board (NJAB), I am constantly faced to push myself towards new challenges and adapt to whatever curve ball life throws.
Adapting to change doesn’t come easy to everyone, and it especially didn’t come easy to me when I began my journey within the NJAA.
As the time came for me to attend my first Leaders Engaged in Angus Development (LEAD) conference, the thought of flying across the country terrified me. However, after a quick pep talk from my parents reminding me that everything would be okay once I got there, I was on my way.
Looking back now, the countless connections and memories made on these trips would have never happened if I hadn’t stepped out of my comfort zone and attended that first LEAD. These trips and opportunities are made for juniors like myself and pave the way for us to build lasting connections and open doors for us throughout life.
The American Angus Association as a whole is constantly faced with change and must adapt to these changes to continue excelling in such an evolving industry. One of the things I admire most about our Association is that it instills that same adaptability within its juniors. Through the process of attending these events and meeting new people, we set ourselves up for success in the long run.
I strongly advise juniors to step out of their comfort zone and take every opportunity that life throws. Going into these events with an open mind allows us to gain every insight and connection offered. I think I speak for the entire NJAB when I say we wouldn’t be the people we are today without the opportunities offered through the NJAA.
