Auction to Support Angus Foundation

Angus supporters at the National Junior Angus Show (NJAS), July 10-17, in Harrisburg, Pa., can place a bid at the 16th Annual Angus Foundation Silent Auction. Proceeds from this ever-popular activity are used by the Angus Foundation to support education, youth and research initiatives and activities.

“Our objective for the silent auction each year is to offer a fun and very enjoyable activity for Angus enthusiasts of all ages attending the NJAS,” says Milford Jenkins, Angus Foundation president.

The event features a wide variety of items available for Angus families and friends to bid on and purchase. All items sold will be donated by state junior and adult Angus associations, farms, corporations and other individuals. The state junior Angus association who donates the highest-selling item to the silent auction will receive $100 for their state junior Angus association.

“By donating an auction item or being an active bidder, you’re helping to make a difference in the Angus breed,” Jenkins says.

Created in 1995, the auction has grown to generate unrestricted financial support for various activities sponsored by the Angus Foundation, such as Raising the Bar youth leadership conferences, educational Cattlemen’s Boot Camp events, research, and undergraduate and graduate scholarships.

Last year the event grossed more than $7,800 in proceeds benefiting the Foundation’s programs. Individual donors and state Angus associations donated 72 items.

“The Angus breed holds a special place in the hearts of our breeders, whether they are just starting their Angus journey as a first-time exhibitor at the NJAS or if they have been raising Angus cattle for decades,” Jenkins says.

All proceeds will go toward the Foundation’s “Vision of Value: Campaign for Angus” goal of raising $11 million by Dec. 31. Contact the Angus Foundation today at 815-383-5100 to contribute to the auction.

The Angus Foundation was established in 1980 as a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization to support Angus education, youth and research. To learn more about the Angus Foundation and the programs it supports, call the American Angus Association® at 816-383-5100 or go to www.angusfoundation.org.
