AMERICAN ANGUS ASSOCIATION - THE BUSINESS BREED

Awards and Recognition

Thousands of dedicated Angus breeders and their families comprise the American Angus Association. Many allocate valuable time and resources to the success of the breed and its members. The organization regularly honors contributors for their efforts through the awards and recognition programs below. Nominations are accepted for many of the awards categories. Contact the Association for further information.

Century Award

The Century Award was created to recognize its members and their families who have been in continuous production of registered Angus cattle for at least 100 years. The honorees are recognized at the American Angus Association’s Annual Awards Banquet with an engraved plaque. Honorees are featured in the Angus Journal, and on the Association’s website. In addition, publicity will be sent to their local media. Applications are due to the Events and Junior Activities Department by March 1, of the year you wish to receive the award. Please feel free to include additional sheets or copies of relevant historical documents if applicable. Historic Angus Herd Award

Active members of the Association who have been in the continuous production of registered Angus cattle for 50 years or more are eligible to apply for the American Angus Association's Historic Angus Herd Award. Awards are presented throughout the year. To qualify, the herd must be owned by the original member or their immediate family, and documentation of herd records must be provided. Herds that qualify are presented an official certificate, signed by the Association president, and recognized in the Angus Journal. Angus Heritage Foundation

Each year, the American Angus Association honors individuals who have made a significant contribution of their time, knowledge and efforts to improve and advance the Angus breed. Inductees are recognized during the American Angus Association’s Annual Awards Banquet. Honorees receive a framed certificate, and names are engraved on a plaque on display at Association headquarters.

Honorary Angus Foundation

In 1985, the National Junior Angus Association initiated the Honorary Angus Foundation to recognize those who have shown extraordinary interest and support for young members of the American Angus Association. Any member of the American Angus Association is eligible to nominate individuals or organizations for the Honorary Angus Foundation. Applications are due March 1, and more information is available here.

Advisors of the Year

In 1980, junior Angus members wanted to recognize the tremendous contributions of junior Angus association advisors, and the Advisor of the Year Award was introduced during the National Junior Angus Show the following year. Applications are due March 1, and more information is available here.
