McCurry Angus Ranch Gift Benefits Kansas Angus Association Scholarship Endowment Fund

Andy, Mary, John and Emily McCurry of McCurry Angus Ranch, home of Marands Angus, at Burrton, Kan., helped the Kansas Angus Association Scholarship Endowment Fund in the Angus Foundation to exceed $11,000.

A featured heifer lot at the McCurry Angus Ranch’s Inaugural Angus Female Production sale, McCurry Bell 7007, was donated by the McCurry family for auction to help raise funds.  Bob and Jeannie Smith of Marshall, Texas, purchased the heifer for $4,000.  When added to the fund, the McCurry’s gift enabled the Kansas Angus Association to surpass their original goal of $10,000.

Kansas Junior Angus Association member Tanner Rayl of Hutchison, Kan., subsequently purchased the heifer for $3,500 after the Smith’s donated the heifer back to be auctioned again in the sale.

Both the Kansas Angus Association and Angus Foundation appreciate the McCurry and Smith families, and other Angus breeders who have contributed to this scholarship drive for the benefit of Angus youth in Kansas.
